Construction Update- July 27, 2017

The construction project to renovate Main Street in Downtown Oakley is proceeding on schedule and the new improvements are taking shape.  The project’s new decorative sidewalks, curb and gutter in the section from Norcross Lane to 2nd Street are nearly complete and the work on the section from 2nd Street to 5th Street is currently underway. The construction of the new decorative brick bands, which will be in the new sidewalks and around the tree wells, has also started.

Over the coming weeks, new trees and median landscaping will be installed, along with new decorative street lights, and the installation of the new traffic signal at Main/Norcross. The final paving of the project is planned for later in August. The completion of the Downtown Oakley Renovation Project will bring much needed enhancements to this area and promote the economic vitality of Oakley.

Construction Update July 10th, 2017

The City’s contractor has finished setting up the formwork and will be pouring the new decorative sidewalks on Main Street from Norcross Ln to 2nd Street from Tuesday, July 11th through Friday, July 14th. Work will begin at 5:00 a.m. through 10:00 a.m.

To accomplish this work as expeditiously and safely as possible, we will detour the Eastbound traffic around, through Acme Street as has been done in the past. Westbound traffic will continue to drive on Main Street as usual.
