2018 Shop Oakley Coupon Book

In an effort to promote businesses in Oakley, the City instituted a Shop Oakley program in 2016.  The program centers around a coupon booklet with a variety of promotions and discounts to provide consumers with an incentive to shop locally.  Up to 30 businesses participate each year.

If you have a business in Oakley, we invite you to submit an application to have a coupon in this year’s booklet.  This program provides a great opportunity for free advertising for your business and there is no fee to participate. (Businesses must be located in Oakley).

The coupon booklet is FREE to consumers and will be available in early March at City Hall and at participating businesses.  The booklets are also distributed at community events throughout the year.

Space is limited in this program and the deadline is Jan. 26th OR until space in the booklet is full.  For an application click here or contact Cindy Coelho at: or calling (925) 625-7044.

Relocation Impact Study and Last Resort Housing Plan

The City of Oakley (City) is interested in acquiring property to allow for the extension of O’Hara Avenue to the north, the widening of Main St. and the development of the long-planned access road. If the property is acquired, the City will provide Relocation Assistance to the property occupants in accordance with California Relocation Assistance Law (Government Code §7260, et seq.) and implementing regulations found in the California Code of Regulations, Title 25, Chapter 6. Persons who are displaced as a result of a public project may be eligible to receive advisory and monetary assistance to help them secure replacement housing that is affordable to them.
As part of the planning process, the City is caused a Draft Relocation Impact Study and Last Resort Housing Plan (Draft Plan) to be prepared. That Draft Plan considers the needs of the impacted occupants and addresses the availability of potential replacement sites in the surrounding area. Most importantly, the Draft Plan describes the City’s commitment to provide relocation assistance to eligible occupants.

The public is invited to review a copy of the Draft Plan and submit comments. The public’s input will help to shape the Final Plan that will be included in the presentation to the Oakley City Council on January 23, 2018. If any members of the public would like to make comments on the Draft Plan, they should contact the City’s Relocation Consultant, Ms. Emily Plurkowski of AR/WS, Inc. at (925) 691-8500 or

All comments must be submitted within 30 days of this posting, by January 20, 2018. A copy of the Draft Plan is available  by clicking here and at City Hall located at 3231 Main Street, Oakley, CA during regular business hours.

Now Accepting Junior Recreation Leader Applications

Come be the future of Recreation!

The Junior Recreation Leader Program is designed to give students, ages 13 – 16, a chance to gain first hand experience in the recreation field, which can prepare them for a variety of jobs in several fields. Currently the Junior Recreation Leader Program only takes place during the Summer.

Jr. Recs are assigned to a Recreation Leader to help with various tasks related to a project such as Summer Blaze Day Camp and Cityhood Celebration. They shadow a Recreation Leader, learning skills along the way, and help to provide valuable assistance to the program coordinator. Jr. Recs often work with small children and should realize that there is an extreme responsibility in providing a safe, fun, healthy, and clean environment for the participants of the programs.

Jr. Recreation Leaders will be able to place this title and job experience on their resumes and the City of Oakley can be listed as a reference.
