Public Schools

The City of Oakley has the benefit of effective public schools with curricula that is creative and responsive to our children's needs. Small class sizes, clearly focused academic goals, and strategies for engaging students and instilling a love of learning are central to the success of Oakley's public schools.

Oakley's first public school dates back to 1862 when Sarah Sellers, one of Oakley's first settlers, opened Iron House School. These schools operate under the auspices of the Oakley Union School District. Liberty Union High School District oversees the operations of Freedom High School, La Paloma High School, and the Liberty Alternative Education Center, each of which provides an exceptional and innovative educational experience for its students.

Note: Families living west of Empire Avenue in Oakley are currently in the Antioch Unified School District. For more information, call (925) 706-4100.

See individual Web pages for interesting and exciting information about each of Oakley's schools.
