MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the City of Oakley Parks and Landscape Division is to provide clean, safe, well-maintained, inviting, and sustainable parks, landscape areas, and recreation facilities for the enjoyment of Oakley residents and visitors.

The Division and Staff values public service, people, teamwork, innovation, quality, integrity, excellence, and the environment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Public Works Department, the City of Oakley Parks and Landscape Division is responsible for maintaining over 96 acres of developed park land (29 parks) in the system that includes many modern park amenities and provides many options for varied recreation uses, almost 40 acres of unimproved park land and open spaces, and approximately 51 acres of landscaped street medians, planters, and screetscapes, with the majority of the maintenance and operations costs funded through landscape and lighting assessment districts.

The maintenance services are divided into one (1) general city-wide zone and twenty-six (26) specific benefit zones throughout the City with in-house staff and contracted landscape maintenances services performing the work. Maintenance tasks include playground equipment, athletic fields and courts, mowing, edging, irrigation, tree trimming, litter control, graffiti removal, vandalism repair, weed abatement, pest control, general landscape maintenance and special projects, just to name a few.

To help protect our parks and ensure that safety and enjoyment continues for everyone, we invite you to help us stop vandalism and the negative impacts that it causes in our parks. While visiting our parks, citizens are asked to be alert for vandalism, graffiti, safety hazards, suspicious persons/activities, or violation of park rules and regulations.

If you do observe graffiti or a safety issue please call the Parks Division at (925) 625-7037. If you observe someone breaking park rules, committing a crime or vandalism, or engaging in other illegal activities, DO NOT attempt to take action yourself.
