Register Your Neighborhood for National Night Night by July 25th

The City of Oakley is taking part in National Night Out 2022. This year’s event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2nd from 5 PM – 9 PM.

Neighborhoods in Oakley are invited to participate with other neighborhoods across the country in celebration of National Night Out. Participating neighborhoods nationwide are asked to turn on outside lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Registration is free and gives police and other city representatives an opportunity to attend local events as time and circumstances permit.

National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event that is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch. National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support for and participation in, local anti-crime efforts and
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships

Neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of events ranging from small potlucks and BBQs to large block parties. Some additional event ideas include but are not limited to, ice cream socials, disaster preparedness, games, food or clothing donations, discussing neighborhood issues or setting neighborhood goals, or discussing and planning a Neighborhood Watch Program.

It’s up to you, be creative, have fun and celebrate your neighborhood. Register your neighborhood for this year’s event today.

You do not have to be a current Neighborhood Watch neighborhood to participate. National Night Out is for everyone! Register and begin planning your event as soon as possible. Please submit a registration form to Marisa Aguilar via email (aguilar@ci.oakley.ca.us), or fax (925) 625-8857.
