Pre-Approved Accessory Dwelling Units
The City of Oakley Planning Division is soliciting proposals for assistance in developing a Pre-Approved Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Program (“Program”). The Program would provide property owners interested in constructing an ADU on their lot a streamlined process through the option of selecting one of several pre-approved ADU plans. One main goal of the program would be to provide an incentive for property owners to use a pre-approved plan to avoid additional costs with design or a third party, ensure they are choosing a plan that has been plan checked with building code and complies with the City Residential Design Guidelines, and reduce the overall time from submittal to building permit. Additionally, this program will reduce or eliminate obstacles to construction of ADUs, which is important because ADUs provide diversity in housing types, which is encouraged at both state and local levels, and may potentially be counted as affordable units in regards to Oakley’s Housing Element and Regional Housing Needs Allocation.
Proposals will be accepted until 5:00 P.M. on September 16, 2020 at 3231 Main Street, Oakley, CA 94561 or by email at strelo@ci.oakley.ca.us. Link to RFP&Q: Pre-Approved_ADU_Program_RFP_Q
