The Oakley Youth Advisory Council plans, participates, and executes several events throughout the school year. Check out the programs below:
City of Oakley Festivals – Heart of Oakley & Oaktober Fest:
At each of these events, the Oakley Youth Advisory Council hosts a fundraiser booth with fun activities such as face painting or glitter tattoos. In recent years, they have also hosted a costume contest at Oaktober.
Oakley’s Got Talent Show:
Since 2017, the Oakley Youth Advisory Council has hosted a community talent show where participants of all-ages are welcome to showcase. OYAC invites local judges consisting of City of Oakley Council Members and principals and teachers of Oakley schools to award participants at the end of the show for each talent category. In 2024, this event raised $500+ for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County.
City of Oakley’s Science Week:
Annually, the City of Oakley Recreation Department plans a Science Week, providing 1-hour Science-related programs per day for Oakley children for a full week. Each year, the Oakley Youth Advisory Council has planned and instructed a workshop with a science-related topic. Topics have included dinosaurs, space, recycling, and agriculture.
OYAC Additional Events:
Each year, the Oakley Youth Advisory Council also host community events such as park clean-ups, Movie in the Plaza nights, youth employment workshops and more!
