Meet the Police Department

ChiefChief Thorsen was selected as the Chief of Police for the City of Oakley in July of 2015. Prior to his selection, Chief Thorsen served for 26 years with the Contra Costa Office of the Sheriff, retiring as a Captain. His assignments while at the Office of the Sheriff varied working virtually every available job classification from detention to investigations. Chief Thorsen was appointed as the Chief of Police in Clayton in November of 2012 and served in that community for nearly three years prior to coming to Oakley.
Chief Thorsen has been married to his wife, Anne for 28 years. Anne is a tax accountant, working for a small firm in Oakland. They have two children, Trevor age 22 works in the research field and lives in San Luis Obispo. Taylor age 20 is in her second year at the University of Hawaii.
