Main Street will be closed between O’Hara Ave and 3rd St from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3rd for the installation of the gateway monument. The detour route will be set up via Acme St. The monument will be covered and protected from the elements and on-lookers until the unveiling on Tuesday, October 24th at 5:00 p.m. We thank you for your patience and encourage if possible, to take alternate routes.

We all know men and women who have served in the military. They are people we admire, look up to and respect for the sacrifices they have made and for the courage they demonstrate on and off the battle field. The City of Oakley invites you to tell us about your military hero.
The essay contest is open to all K-12 students that reside in Oakley. There will be one winner in each of the corresponding categories K-5th grade, 6th-8th grade, and 9th-12th grade. K-5th grade students are invited to submit a drawing with a caption, while 6th-12th grades are to submit 300-500 typewritten words. To qualify please submit a completed essay and entry form to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2017.
Winners will be given the opportunity to read their essay on Veterans Day during the City of Oakley Observance Ceremony to take place on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Civic Center Plaza located at 3231 Main Street, Oakley. Additionally, first prize winners will receive a certificate of recognition and a $50 cash prize.
Main Street will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8th and Saturday, September 9th between Norcross Lane to 5th Street. The closure will allow for striping of Main Street. This work is being performed at night to minimize traffic impacts to the public. Pedestrian access will be provided to all properties along the project route during this work.
Notices have been delivered to property owners, residents, and merchants along and adjacent to Main Street from Norcross Lane to 5th Street.
Downtown Final Paving Operations
Main Street will be closed on Wednesday night- August 23rd, Thursday night- August 24th, and Friday night- August 25th from 8 PM to 5 AM between Norcross Lane to 5th Street in order for the contractor to pave the street in this section of downtown.
This work is being performed at night to minimize traffic impacts to the public. Pedestrian access will be provided to all properties along the project route during this work.
Main Street in the Eastbound direction will be closed from 3631 Main Street to 5th Street on Sunday morning- August 27th from 6 AM to 1 PM for placement of Slurry Seal. Main Street Westbound traffic will flow normal and is not impacted by the Slurry Seal operations.
Main Street will be closed on Monday night- August 28th, Tuesday night- August 29th, Wednesday night- August 30th, and Thursday night- August 31st from 9 PM to 5 AM between Norcross Lane to 5th Street for the contractor to raise all the utilities manholes and valves to grade.
Detours will be set up during these night operations to facilitate traffic flows. Notification flyers have been distributed to all properties along this section of downtown to inform them of the paving related operations.

The Academy is a free, interactive civic education program designed to provide those who live and work in Oakley with a breadth of background and knowledge of the intricacies of City operations and processes. The purpose of the Academy is to provide an interesting perspective into the working of Oakley, to develop civic leadership, and to build a stronger community through well-informed and engaged residents.

Main Street will be closed to traffic Thursday night, August 10th from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Norcross Lane to 5th Street for paving preparation operations. In conjunction with this work, Diablo Water District will also be testing the water lines in this section of Main Street. Notifications will be delivered to all properties along the project route prior to the night work.
Tomorrow, the contractor will be working from 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. along Main Street between Norcross Ln to 2nd St. They will be conducting will preparatory within the medians for the upcoming landscaping work that will follow in the coming weeks.
Eastbound Main Street between Norcross Ln to 2nd St will be closed to thru traffic to accommodate this work. We will detour Eastbound traffic via Norcross Ln and Acme and back on Main Street. Westbound traffic on Main Street will flow in the regular pattern.
The construction project to renovate Main Street in Downtown Oakley is proceeding on schedule and the new improvements are taking shape. The project’s new decorative sidewalks, curb and gutter in the section from Norcross Lane to 2nd Street are nearly complete and the work on the section from 2nd Street to 5th Street is currently underway. The construction of the new decorative brick bands, which will be in the new sidewalks and around the tree wells, has also started.
Over the coming weeks, new trees and median landscaping will be installed, along with new decorative street lights, and the installation of the new traffic signal at Main/Norcross. The final paving of the project is planned for later in August. The completion of the Downtown Oakley Renovation Project will bring much needed enhancements to this area and promote the economic vitality of Oakley.
The City’s contractor has finished setting up the formwork and will be pouring the new decorative sidewalks on Main Street from Norcross Ln to 2nd Street from Tuesday, July 11th through Friday, July 14th. Work will begin at 5:00 a.m. through 10:00 a.m.
To accomplish this work as expeditiously and safely as possible, we will detour the Eastbound traffic around, through Acme Street as has been done in the past. Westbound traffic will continue to drive on Main Street as usual.
Work continues! The contractor will be pouring stamped concrete sections in the sidewalks beginning Friday, June 30th at 5:00 a.m. through 9:00 a.m. They will have two crews on site to expedite the work. Traffic along Main Street will be detoured to Acme, Norcross Lane, and back to Main Street.
There will not be construction work occurring on Monday, July 3rd in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
